Catching up with 2016 Mississippi INBRE Research Scholar, Tembra Jones

2016 Mississippi INBRE Research Scholar, Tembra Jones has worked hard to further her research since her summer  experience. After being awarded with the Mississippi INBRE Research Scholar summer experience, Tembra sought out opportunities to continue her research. She received the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Scholar award and the Jackson Heart Study Scholar award.

Tembra has also presented her research at several conferences. In 2016, she received a travel award to present her research at the 2016 Annual Biomedical Researchers Conference for Minority Students. She has also presented her research at the Mississippi Academy of Sciences Meeting, Millsaps/HHMI Undergraduate Scholar Symposium and the 2017 Posters in the Rotunda event at the Mississippi State Capitol building. At the Millsaps/HHMI Undergraduate Scholars Symposium, she was awarded first place for her poster presentation.

Most recently, Tembra enrolled in nursing school at the University of Mississippi Medical School and is working on a publication which she plans to submit in early 2018.
