Catching Up With 2014 Mississippi INBRE Research Scholar, Terra Parker Cody

As an undergraduate student at The University of Southern Mississippi, Terra Parker Cody completed the Mississippi INBRE Research Scholars program in the lab of Dr. Glen Shearer during the summer of 2014. Following her internship, she not only presented her research at the Mississippi Academy of Sciences, but also traveled to Washington D.C. to present her research at Posters on the Hill.
After graduation from USM with a Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences in 2014, Terra went to William Carey University. She obtained a Master’s degree in biomedical sciences in 2015 and immediately began medical school at the William Carey University, College of Medicine.
Terra’s achievements since completing the MIRS program include being secretary of ACOFP, presenting her research at the ACOFP conference in Puerto Rico, attending the MSMA conference, and most recently, Terra was accepted into the Mississippi Rural Physician’s scholarship program.
Currently, Terra is doing clinical rotations in Biloxi, MS and plans to go into primary care. She has a special interest in preventive medicine.
