Mississippi INBRE sponsored the 85th annual Mississippi Academy of Sciences Meeting, held on August 5-6, 2021, at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center in Biloxi, MS. The meeting hosted over 100 presentations as well as over 300 speakers despite the COVID-19 pandemic. It is estimated that over 600 attended the conference, including Mississippi State Department of Health officials, faculty, staff, and students from throughout the state.
Mississippi State Health Officer Thomas Dobbs received the MAS Presidential Award for his support of the conference over the years and presented an update on COVID-19’s effect on Mississippians as well as the United States as a whole.
MAS is the premiere conference for scientists across Mississippi concerning many different subjects, and its 85th meeting was no exception.
