Catching Up with 2014 Mississippi INBRE Service Scholar, Demitria Love

Tougaloo College graduate, Demitria Love has continued to build on the experience she gained from the Mississippi INBRE Service Scholars program. Before applying for the program, Demitria was unsure where her scholastic journey would take her. She said the Service Scholars program allowed her to see opportunities outside becoming a doctor. She discovered a passion for public health and has continued to pursue that passion since completing the program.

Following her summer experience, Demitria graduated from Tougaloo College with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and has since began working toward receiving a Master’s in Public Health at Jackson State University. She plans to graduate from Jackson State University in 2018. The Service Scholars program also opened up a door for Demitria to work with My Brother’s Keeper at their Center for Research, Evaluation and Environmental Policy Change.

Demitria said, “One of the greatest lessons that I learned was that it really is never too late to find what you love.”

Congratulations, Demitria! We look forward to seeing where all your experience will take you.
